Is there anything more thrilling than a last minute getaway? A small group of us were lucky enough to sneak away to Miami for a couple days this winter. The sunshine when we got off the plane immediately brought a grin to my face. I was in one of my favorite places with some of my favorite people.
Unlike most trips, we didn’t have months of anticipation and build up, but that did not take away from our curiosity. We stayed at the Nautilus hotel in South Beach which was centrally located to some of Miami’s hot spots and as a bonus, was right on the beach. We spent our four days exploring every industry we could think of. We absorbed as much as we could in the little time we had. We crammed our days with visits to Wynwood Walls featuring some of the worlds greatest graffiti, local restaurants such as Dirt, and notable fashion hot spots; we even made time for a quick workout at Barry’s Bootcamp. Everywhere we went, we were met with smiling faces and it became clear that the Miami effect was contagious.
We have been back for a few months now and I still find myself daydreaming about every piece of it, particularly Damien Hirst’s Gone but not Forgotten exhibit, as I am rushing to meeting after meeting. We all live such hectic and busy lives and it is hard to make time for friends and family. My advice? Just do it.
