Did you know that the average person spends about 1/3 of their lives on their mattress? That number seemed insane to me, but when I really thought about it, that’s about right — 8hrs a night is 1/3 of your day (for those lucky enough to get the full 8 hours).

A few months ago, I started shopping for a new mattress as mine was seeing the end of days. It’s generally recommended that you change your mattress every 5-7 years for a plethora of reasons including: changes in your body, not feeling rested when you wake, aches and pains and general wear and tear. Since I spend 1/3 of my life on my mattress, I thought it was important for me to take the time to do my homework on what kind of mattress would be ideal for me and my sleeping habits.

If you live in Toronto, you have for sure seen ads for ENDY mattresses. Perhaps on the subway or on billboards around the city. I definitely have. I started looking into the company for two reasons. One being that

I really wanted to purchase something that was Canadian made.

Another being that everyone I know who has purchased this mattress has raved about how wonderful it is. I ordered my queen mattress and the entire process from start to finish was easy as can be. They delivered the mattress (for free by the way) right to my door and it was in a box that was about the size of a hockey bag. I was able to move it by myself and unpack it quite easily — if you are a very petite person, you might want to get some help with it. All you do is pull it out of the box, open the plastic, and let it roll open. Once unpacked, you can sleep on it immediately and it’ll reach its full firmness after 48-72 hours.

Once the mattress was fully open, I had my first sleep in it and it was fantastic. The mattress itself is unlike anything I’ve ever laid on — it almost morphs to your body. It’s soft but supportive and the material doesn’t make you sweaty. According to the website,

the top  layer uses open cell technology which allows heat to dissipate from the body faster.

It’s also hypoallergenic for those with sensitive skin. It also prevents movement transfer, meaning that if you’re sleeping in the bed with a partner, you won’t feel them if they are moving. The team was also kind enough to send me their ENDY pillows and sheets to test as well, both of which I love.

Before I received my ENDY, I was still worried that I might sleep on it and find in a couple of weeks that I don’t love it. But ENDY offers a 100 night trial and free returns, so you have a good opportunity to really test out your mattress to make sure it’s a good fit. It’s been just over 100 days with my ENDY and I love it.
