About a year ago I really started taking my health more seriously. I was constantly feeling exhausted and drained of energy, and I was struggling to keep up with my daily life, so I decided to make a change. I won’t get into the nitty gritty of it (I’ll save that for another post), but exercise became a regular part of my routine. With that exercise, came the need to learn more about how to maintain and sustain a system that would result in long-term changes and habits to my lifestyle.
Fast forward a full year and a ton of trial-and-error with different types of workouts, and I was introduced to the team at Myodetox. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Myodetox was founded in 2014 by Toronto-based physiotherapist Vinh Pham, and is:
a unique manual therapy system designed for proactive and reactive care of the body and offered exclusively at Myodetox Clinics. These therapies are performed only by licensed physical therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists.
In other words, this program reimagines our traditional understanding of the links between physical therapy and exercise. For me, the best part the vibe at Myodetox — it’s not a competitive environment like so many other facilities. My coaches Alvin, David and Maddie worth in tandem and push me to do my very best, but at my own pace and that is key. Most importantly, they work closely with you to identify any pain points in your body and address the root causes of that pain so you are able to comfortably continue to improve and strengthen your body.
Myodetox has by far been the most impactful program I have ever used. In the first month working with the team, I’ve added lean muscle to my body and shed excess weight. Truth be told, I didn’t expect to see the results I have in such a short time, but I am excited to see what comes of the next few months as I continue my journey with the team.
